Co-President: Michael Podolny

Mike is in his third year of the JD program at Osgoode. He spent the past summer as a law student in the Toronto office of Osler, Hoskin & Harcourt LLP and the previous summer as a research assistant to Professor Emeritus and Senior Scholar Garry D. Watson.

Prior to Osgoode, Mike has attained his BBA degree (with distinction) from the Schulich School of Business at York University. He specialized in accounting and finance and spent his undergraduate summers as a Staff Accountant at one of the “Big Four” accounting firms on Bay Street.

In prior years Mike served as the Co-President of the Osgoode JLSA and the founder of the York Entrepreneurship Society (Y.E.S) at York University.

Mike is looking forward to articling with Osler upon graduation.

 

Co-President: Richard Missaghie

Richard is in his third of the JD program at Osgoode, where he has served as the V.P. of the Sports and Entertainment Law Society, as well as the Second year representative in the OBLS. Prior to attending Osgoode, Richard
obtained an Honours BA in Economics from the University of Western Ontario, an MA in Economics from McGill and also worked as an Operations Supervisor at CN Rail in Toronto. This past summer Richard worked at McCarthy Tetrault LLP and will be returning to complete his articles with them next fall.

Co-Vice President: Alla Zhura 

Alla is in her second year of the J.D. program at Osgoode Hall Law School. She earned her Bachelor of Commerce degree from Ryerson University with specialization in hospitality and tourism management. Alla spent the past summer working as a Research Assistant for Professor Ben-Ishai, conducting research in bankruptcy and insolvency. Alla is also a student founding member of the WoodGreen Debt Clinic – a pilot project dedicated to educating members of the WoodGreen community on various issues pertaining to bankruptcy and insolvency. In addition, this year Alla is participating in the in the Osgoode Business Clinic.

 

Secretary: Emma Sarkisyan

 

Emma is in her second year of the J.D. program at Osgoode Hall Law School. She spent the past summer working full-time as a research assistant to Professor Benjamin Geva and is currently employed part-time. Prior to Osgoode, Emma has attained her B.Com degree from the Rotman Commerce program at University of Toronto. She specialized in accounting and majored in Economics. Emma was also a Staff Accountant at one of the “Big Four” accounting firms on Bay Street.

Treasurer: Ilia Valitsky 

Ilia is in his second year of the JD program at Osgoode. Prior to attending law school, Ilia graduated from York University with a Bachelor of Science Honours Biology degree. Subsequently, he took a year off to work, travel throughout Europe, and Run with the Bulls in Pamplona, Spain. At Osgoode, Ilia has been involved in a number of extracurricular activities including the Entertainment and Sports Law Association, Jewish Law Students
Association, C.L.A.S.P, and he participated in flag football and intramural volleyball. Ilia’s passions include traveling, mixed martial arts, and sports.

Conference Representative: Joan Christiansen

Joan is in her third year of the JD-MBA joint program at Osgoode and Schulich, and will be summering at Goodmans in Vancouver. She previously completed an Honours B.A. at McGill in International Development Studies and Women’s Studies. Over the past two summers, Joan has worked at the Law Society of Nunavut in Iqaluit and the Ateneo Human Rights Center in the Philippines. She is particularly interested in international business and global policy development, as well as issues related to diversity. In her spare time, she enjoys reading fiction, hiking, and traveling.

3rd Year Representative: Bahram Dehghan

Bahram is a third year student at Osgoode in the JD program.  He has been an executive member of the Osgoode Business Law Society for the past 3 years and had previously served as Co-Vice President and Treasurer. Prior to attending Osgoode, Bahram obtained an Honours BA in Criminology from York University. Bahram went on an exchange program to Monach University after his first year at Osgoode and worked this past summer as a law student at a labour and employment firm in downtown Toronto. 

 

2nd Year Representative: Matthew Ritchie

Matt is in his second year of the JD program at Osgoode. He graduated from University of Windsor with an Honours degree in Business Administration. Prior to attending law school, he worked
with T.D. Canada Trust as a Financial Services Representative. Last year, he served as Treasurer of the Business Law Society. This past summer, Matt worked as the summer student at the Crown Attorney’s office in Windsor. This summer, he hopes to attain a position with a business law firm. In addition to playing hockey for the Osgoode hockey team, Matt’s interests include fitness, boxing,
politics and securities trading.

 

 

1st Year Rep: Sheena Josan 

Sheena is in her first year of the JD program at Osgoode. Prior to attending Osgoode, Sheena earned her Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Alberta majoring in Business Economics and Law. This past summer, Sheena worked for the Government of Alberta in Edmonton. Sheena is also involved with Pro Bono Students Canada and the South Asian Law Students Association, and is a member of the Osgoode intramural soccer team.
